Obscure film is a site set up for the movie lover who wants to explore more than the just the latest offerings from Hollywood.

We signpost and tell you about interesting directors, and films you didn’t know existed.

The mantra we operate by is simple. The films have to:

• Be obscure to someone born after 1980 (a lot of the films are older).
• Be good (no 8 hour Russian soap operas here).
• Be reasonably accessible (why? because we want you to watch them).

It also isn’t really as obscure as some movie lovers and armchair critics would like it to be. It’s more about unearthing movies that are out there and should be watched.
